Anytime you are using a device to authenticate to Teams or Skype for Business, the time on that device is something that is essential that it is as close as it can be. This is due to requirements in certificate based authentication which if the device is not accurate, your room system might have difficulty logging in. If you are having trouble logging in and your NTP settings are correct, there might be other issues and I have described a few of them here.

So this is where you want to make sure that your NTP settings are working and functional and sometimes this might differ on your room system from your other Windows devices on your network. For instance, if your Windows devices obtain the NTP settings via GPO and you are not domain joining your Microsoft Teams Room system devices, then you might need to set these since more than likely, the public NTP servers might be blocked. You might not even think about this, but it is essential to authentication.

GETTING TO THE NTP SETTINGS VIA THE DESKTOP

LETS GET INTO SETUP ON THE MTR AND PROCEED FROM THERE

Once you are in setup, you will search for the date and time settings via the bottom search button. As you type date you will see the items above populate. Choose Date & time settings.

Date & Time Settings

Once at the date & time settings screen, you will then navigate to the right-hand side with your mouse and choose the option that says Add clocks for different time zones.

Once you choose that you will get a dialog pop up that. Once that is shown, you will choose the third option that says internet time.

Once there you will choose the Change Settings option as shown below.

Once there you will need to change the NTP url and hit update now. Once done make sure that it successfully updated and then hit the 2 ok buttons.
